В горечи, в гневе слова составлял он
Песню рождал, проклятье сплетал.
Волны смерти таились, на волю просились.
Песнь рождена – ей нужна жизнь!
В ограде врага, внешне нищий, убогий
Испросил разрешения драпу свершить.
Ярла хвалить Хакон могучий
Ему разрешил и песнь началась!

Хвала ринулась к ярлу, радость и счастье
Песнь сулила, судьбу возносила
Но смерть придвинулась к ярлу
Горечь, несчастье та песнь сулила.

Хакону плохо – кожа зудит
Остановить невозможно, то – скрытый нид.
Сеть смерти звенит – рвет в клочья жизнь,
Меч смерти разит – рвет оковы судьбы.
То – их пир,
Их жизнь – нид

Ярлу - гнить!

Смерти слова смерть сюда испросили,
Слуги метались и ею давились
Железо на стенах в том помогало

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

In anguish, in anger the words he was spelling
